Granulocytic maturation:

Maturing granulocytes undergo sequential changes in the expression of key markers.

  • CD117 and HLA-DR are progressively lost (CD117+ granulocytes highlighted in pink)
  • CD13 is high in promyelocytes, then decreases in myelocytes, but increases until full maturation to neutrophils
  • CD11b progressively increases
  • Mature bands and neutrophils are characterized by expression of CD10 and CD16 (green circle)
